ESPN to air follow-up 30 for 30 on Miami Hurricanes this winter

ESPN’s 30 for 30 series has really taken off since they debuted, however most would agree, especially college football fans, that one of the very first ones that aired has been the best by far. That one, just simply titled “The U,” chronicled the rise of the Miami Hurricanes football program in the 1980s.

Now, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, ESPN will be allowing director and Hurricanes fan Billy Corben two more hours to do a follow-up on the Miami football program that will air this winter.

For anyone that enjoyed that first one, especially yours truly, this is tremendous news. Given the specific content that will be involved in this sequel, there’s a good chance that this one could be better than the first, especially when they touch on the Nevin Shapiro scandal that could have very easily killed the program.

There’s no word yet on who Corben is interviewing nor when specifically this winter it will air, but this has the potential to be must-see TV, just as the first one was.
