It was only a matter of time before the defending National Champions got rolling on the recruiting trail.
It looks like now may be the time for the Florida State Seminoles. Over the weekend, 3-star wide receiver Nyqwan Williams, out of Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida, gave his pledge to the Seminoles.
The Seminoles stayed in central Florida, but headed to the coast to get another commitment on Monday when 3-star defensive back Arthur “A.J.” Westbrook gave his pledge to the Seminoles. The 6’0, 173-pounder attends Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida.
“I talked to Coach Trickett (Sunday) around 1 o’clock,” Westbrook said via Chris Nee of 24/7 Sports. “He just told me that he and (head) Coach (Jimbo) Fisher sat down and watched my film and they said they liked how I covered, my tackling, and my ball skills.”
The Seminoles’ championship obviously had a big impact on Westbrook, but he liked the program before they won.
“I know a lot about them,” Westbrook said. “Obviously they won the National Championship. They have a lot of them. They are just a good football team.”
Westbrook becomes part of a loaded defensive back class for the Seminoles. It features 5-star safety Derwin James, 4-star cornerback Tyrek Cole and 4-star safety Calvin Brewton.
The Seminoles offered Westbrook on Sunday.
