Indians will activate Jason Giambi from DL on Tuesday

Veteran first baseman/designated hitter Jason Giambi will be activated from the disabled list by the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday according to Nick Camino on Twitter.

Giambi expressed interest in returning to the Tribe during the final couple weeks of the 2013 regular season and got his wish. But things haven’t necessarily gone his way as he found himself on the disabled list once again. It’s a place that he’s been very familiar with over the last couple of years but he’s hoping to bounce back and show that he still has what it takes to stick with the big league club.

He’s still yet to record a single hit to start off the early half of the season. Giambi has played in four games so far and has seen 10 at bats but has struck out twice. Last year he finished with nine home runs and 31 RBIs, with a couple of those home runs being walk-off blasts that sent fans home with smiles on their faces.

Could Giambi eclipse those numbers this season? Or will he end up falling flat on his face and find himself on the disabled list yet again?
