It appears as if Donald Sterling’s tenure as owner of the Los Angeles Clippers is coming to an end.

After the NBA announced they would be banning Sterling from the league earlier this month, Sterling himself said he would fight the extraction.

Fight he will as the NBA has reportedly began the process to terminate Sterling as owner of the team he purchased in 1981.

Sterling’s racist comments which sparked the outcry are just one of many problems the longtime Clippers owner has dealt with during his tenure atop the Clippers organization, though they’re certainly the most damaging in regards to public perception.

As for the NBA, they believe that Sterling “engaged in conduct that has damaged and continues to damage the NBA and its teams” while attempting to “significantly undermine…efforts to promote diversity and inclusion” and “damage NBA’s relationship w/its fans”.

NBA owners are expected to meet and vote on Sterling’s pending ownership come June 3rd where a 3/4’s vote by NBA Board of Governors will be needed to remove Sterling as owner of the Clippers franchise. Assuming it is to pass, the team will be sold to new owners.

Of course, Sterling has said he will sue the NBA if such is to go down so we’re likely just beginning what will be a nasty fight.
