If you’ve been on the waiting list to get season tickets to see the Pittsburgh Steelers play at Heinz Field, you may be in luck today as Pro Football Talk reported on Monday afternoon that 3,000 seats will be added to the stadium.

According to PFT:

“The Steelers announced Monday that they have reached agreement with the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Alleghany County on plans for an expansion to Heinz Field. There will be approximately 3,000 new seats in the South Plaza of the stadium and team president Art Rooney II said in a statement that he hopes “we will be able to provide many of our Waiting List fans the opportunity to become season ticket holders.”

A new high-definition videoboard will also be a part of the renovation taking place in Pittsburgh so each fan in attendance will be able to see the action and all the replays and challenges as if they were watching on their big screen at home.

Heinz Field will move up from 65,050 seating capacity to 68,050 and would become the No. 21 largest capacity in the NFL.

For one of the most loyal and dedicated fanbases in all of professional sports, the additional seating will give 3,000 die-hard Steelers fans a chance to see their favorite team at Heinz Field for eight Sundays a year and that’s a bit of good news in the middle of the non-playing season for Pittsburgh fans.
