New NFL Sunday Ticket, DirecTV deal reportedly coming soon
By Josh Sanchez
On Monday, there were some reports that the proposed deal between AT&T and DirecTV would fall through if DirecTV was unable to renew their deal with the NFL Sunday Ticket. That news seemed to put AT&T’s acquisition of the television giant in jeopardy, but on Tuesday we got a sigh of relief — well, unless you are a competitor that was hoping the deal would never come to fruition.
More from NFL
- 3 Cowboys who won’t be on the roster after training camp
- Packers: Aaron Rodgers reached out to Jordan Love this offseason
- Damar Hamlin is a ‘full go’ at Bills training camp
- NFL rumors: Eagles RB1 hint, Bryce Young shows out, C.J. Stroud slow play
- Stephen Jones poorly tried to justify Cowboys’ negotiations with Tony Pollard
According to the Wall Street Journal, a deal will be agreed on soon.
It is now believed that those current subscribers to AT&T’s U-Verse package will also be able to get access to the Sunday Ticket, which is truly a must-have for all fans of professional football. Pro Football Talk provides even more information about why AT&T is so heavily involved and interested in the deal, as they look to continue building their relationship with the National Football League.
"AT&T has been trying to expand its relationship with the NFL. Last year, the company purchased the naming rights to the billion-dollar stadium where the Cowboys play. Now, AT&T will be spending much more than $1 billion per year to extend — and possibly to enhance — the NFL Sunday Ticket arrangement."
There still may be some details to work out, but it appears that everything is headed in the right direction.
We now just have to wonder how accessible NFL Sunday Ticket will be and whether or not the biggest reason for AT&T and DirecTV to join forces was because of the almighty NFL.
