Ryder Cup points standings: Team USA and Team Europe


The Ryder Cup will be taking place September 26-28 at Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland.  Team Europe is coming off a dramatic victory at the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, and has won of seven of the last nine cups.  Team USA is looking for answers, which makes the three Captain’s selections extremely important.

Team USA points standings. The top nine players make the team and Captain Tom Watson picks the remaining three players.

Team Europe uses two points systems, one for European Tour events and another for PGA Tour/world events.  The top four players on the European points standings make the Ryder Cup, and the top five players on the World points standings who are not already in the top four of the European points standings also make the team. Captain Paul McGinley will have three Captain’s selections to fill out the 12-player roster.

The players who would make the European Team if the points system ended today are: Dubuisson, Donaldson, Bjorn, and Stenson from the European points list, and Garcia, McIlroy, Rose, Kaymer, and Donald from the World points list (all in bold).
