It isn’t a surprise that Orlando Magic, who had the third-worst record in the NBA last season, fell out of the top three in the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery and will pick fourth. It also shouldn’t shock anyone that the two teams with worse records, the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers, also moved back a spot. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who had the NBA’s ninth-worst record, getting the top overall pick was a shocker.
The Cavaliers will likely chose between a pair of former Kansas Jayhawks’ teammates, forward Andrew Wiggins and center Joel Embiid and former Duke Blue Devils’ forward Jabari Parker. The folks over at Bovada have made Wiggins the favorite.
2014 NBA Draft – Who will be selected #1 Overall?
Andrew Wiggins 2/3
Joel Embiid 8/5
Jabari Parker 5/1
Although one reported suggested the Cavaliers could take someone other than Wiggins, Embiid or Parker, that is clearly a long-shot. If they did pass on the perceived top three, Australian point guard Dante Exum and former Kentucky Wildcats’ power forward Julius Randle would probably be next up.
There have also been several report that the Cavaliers could trade the top pick and may be looking to acquire Kevin Love, but that too will be difficult to do.
Will the Cavs trade the #1 Overall Pick?
Yes +200 (2/1)
No -300 (1/3)
