New Milwaukee Bucks owners Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry have a lot on their plate. Just as the NBA draft lottery passes, their preparation begins. The first order of business may be deciding what to do with the staff that is already in place.

According to an interview Edens did with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, general manager John Hammond’s job is safe for now. Although he wouldn’t commit to any long-term, decisive plans, Hammond will make the picks for Milwaukee during the 2014 draft next month. Edens was also quoted in that article as saying, “we’re very happy to have those guys working with us,” in regards to Hammond and assistant GM David Morway.

Those two have a lot on their own plate these coming weeks. Not only do they have some future job uncertainty weighing on their minds, but Hammond and Morway must hit on the second-overall pick the Bucks have in this draft. For a team that was actually trying to win games this season (as opposed to tanking), it was a disastrous year. With talented players but ones that can’t be counted on for a variety of reasons, Milwaukee is on the precipice of something: either missing on this pick and tumbling down for years to come, or rebounding back to a playoff contender.
