Last night, in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, we saw Lance Stephenson beat the halftime buzzer, tipping in an inbounds pass with just 0.1 seconds remaining. It was an incredible play, showing off Stephenson’s incredible athleticism.
Tonight, against all odds, we saw another 0.1 second buzzer beater–this time thanks to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Nick Collison. No, seriously, Nick Collison. I promise you I’m not joking. It really was Nick Collison. Fine, you still don’t believe me? Let’s go to the tape.
Haha, okay, Nick. I see you!
This version didn’t quite have the athleticism as Stephenson, but regardless it was still a brilliant play.
Without Ibaka, the Thunder are going to need a big time series out of Collison. He got the start tonight, but so far these are his only two points. Points, however, are not really what the Thunder are relying on Collison for. They would be nice, of course, but what they really need is for Collison to protect the paint on defense in Ibaka’s absence.
