The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions this year after taking care of the Boston Bruins in 6 games last season. On Sunday they took another step in that direction, beating the Los Angeles Kings, 3-1, in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
Tonight, the teams are squaring off again in Chicago, with the Blackhawks looking to go up two games to none and put a chokehold on the series. And through one period, they’re on their way. Nick Leddy scored a sick backhand goal at 14:16 to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead they maintained through the end of the period.
Check out a few different looks of Leddy’s goal below.
First you can see the closeup, as Leddy holds off his defender and flips the puck up over Kings’ goalie Jonathan Quick.
Then, check out the end-to-end view to see how the play develops. Great transition play from Chicago here to catch the Kings off guard.
Chicago is already up 1-0 in the series and if they keep getting play like this out of Leddy then there’s not saying how far they can take this potential Stanley Cup repeat journey.
