The Oakland Athletics are working on getting a George Michaels appearance at the Coliseum this season, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. It would be a pretty cool development for the A’s and for Josh Reddick who has been “Careless Whisper” by George Michaels as his walk-off song.

There’s no official word yet on whether Michael will show, but there has been contact and the A’s are hopeful they can pull it off. Which would be amazing, and pretty darn cool. Michael, who is English, presumably has little background in baseball and probably hadn’t heard of Josh Reddick until recently, but the Oakland outfielder has brought Michael’s sax-heavy ballad “Careless Whisper” back into cultural relevance.

Reddick has over MLB with the best walk-up song since his recent change. Reddick and MLB has seemingly embraced it. Hopefully, Michaels will, too.

George Michaels really needs to make this happen.

I mean, he could probably use the publicity and there is no doubt that baseball fans would turn out for the event. Plus, it may earn the team a little more money toward building a new stadium.
