Apple leases 7 new buildings during construction
Apple is constantly at the front of innovation, not only in its products, but in the way the company conducts business as well. As Apple continues to work towards the creation of their new spaceship-esque headquarters, they must find room as they continue to grow as well. This week, the company took out a lease on a seven building space not far from their new headquarter location.
The campus that Apple is now leasing is known as Sunnyvale Crossing and boasts some pretty impressive specifications of its own. The buildings enclose roughly 290,000 square feet of office space and provide a home to over 1,450 workers. The San Jose Mercury News reports that Sunnyvale Crossing was also recently renovated by Lane Partners, just in time for its new tenants.
At this point, it is not known what divisions or groups of Apple employees will be housed in the new Sunnyvale Crossing space. Obviously as construction continues, it only makes sense for Apple to find additional space as they are forced out of their current location.
The “spaceship campus” was approved in November and will be a project giving the technology company 2.8 million square feet of space. The new location will be built in Cupertino, California. While mock ups have been very impressive thus far, that is what the company is going to be looking at for some time. At this point, Apple doesn’t expect the new office space to be ready until mid-2016.
With a handful of new products coming this fall, most notably the iPhone 6, Apple should be in a great position come 2016. While expansions never come cheaply, staying at the forefront of innovation and growth is something that will remain as the goal of a company that has seen continued success since the transition to CEO Tim Cook. The project will be an exciting one upon completion, and looks to fall in line with Apple’s sleek and trendy image.
