It’s been seven years since Dan Patrick was on ESPN and according to a report from Awful Announcing on Thursday morning, Patrick could be making a one-time return to the “Mothership” and host an episode of SportsCenter, possibly with his “Big Show” partner Keith Olbermann.
According to ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz, “It’s a germ of an idea that we are kicking around and it goes well beyond just Dan. We’ve done this before where a series of past anchors host a SportsCenter. It’s an idea we are potentially considering again, though it’s very early in the process and it may or may not happen.”
Fans of Patrick and Olbermann undoubtedly got their hopes up to see the pair back on ESPN together and hosting the flagship program on the network, however those hopes came to a crashing halt when Patrick addressed the rumors on his radio show this morning.
If you needed Patrick to host an episode to get your fix, then you must not be watching or listening to his three-hour radio show that is also simulcast on the Audience Network and NBC Sports Network and the host of Football Night in America and host for the Winter Olympics is as busy as they come in the world of sports broadcasting. And that doesn’t even include his work as the host of a sports version of Jeopardy that is slated to premiere soon.
