Chelsea’s David Luiz has been reported to be on his way to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, but FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are two clubs that have also been in the running for the Brazilian defender’s services.
It seems that Jose Mourinho is trying to squeeze the most out of a potential Luiz deal, and is hoping that Barcelona will offer Cesc Fabregas as part of a swap.
Luiz is valued at around £30 million, and Barcelona have tried to include Alex Song as the cherry on top in a Luiz bid.
It’s uncertain whether or not Barcelona would be interested in a straight up Fabregas for Luiz swap, but it could make sense.
Fabregas has been a very popular name in transfer rumors, having been connected to several top Premier League clubs as Barcelona look to clean the house this summer.
At the same time, the team is desperate for some depth at the back and have been actively looking for a center back.
Paulinho has been rumored to be another Mourinho target, although it seems like an unlikely move. Either way, it seems as though the Chelsea boss is looking to use the cash he receives from a Luiz deal to reinforce his central midfield.
