While some people freak out about drones and how they’re going to take over our life and interfere with us on a daily basis, I’m loving what people are doing with them in their free time. Since I don’t have the money to buy one and attach a remote controlled camera to one, and as my video games suggest I don’t have the fine motor skills to operate one, I appreciate people making these aerial videos of scenics parts of the world.
Now you can add Texas A&M’s Kyle Field to the list of places that has been surveyed and then uploaded to YouTube. What makes this especially notable, and not your normal in-game overhead blimp shot, is that Texas A&M is currently in the process of expanding their stadium. You can see in the picture above what that section of the stadium used to look like before renovations began.
The expansion is huge and is adding a ton of seats, and consequently a ton of revenue from additional ticket sales. I also appreciate this drone user resisting the temptation to pick out a song to serve as the soundtrack for this video. If it was some techno beats as it flew over surveying the construction, I don’t know if I could’ve enjoyed the video as much.
