Montreal Canadiens left wing Brandon Prust will undergo a phone hearing today with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday afternoon. The topic of discussion is Prust’s hit on New York Rangers center Derek Stepan during the first period of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night.

There was no call on the play where Stepan had to leave the game for a period of time. Stepan did return before the game ended; a good sign that no serious injury was sustained. Prust hit Stepan, driving his left shoulder into Stepan’s upper chest.

Take a look at the incident:

“I personally think it’s late and I think the main contact is my face,” Stepan said, via ESPN New York. “It’s playoff hockey, but I still don’t think it’s a very good hit.”

Discipline surrounding interference is being considered on the play. The Department of Player Safety can change or alter the infraction upon further review.
