Playstation Now beta leaked on Playstation 4

Earlier this week, we discussed the emergence of Playstation Now on the Playstation 4.  The beta went live on May 20 and not three days later, we have our first look in to what the streaming service looks like on the next generation system.  Thanks to YouTube user Cry0spa7t3, we have a nice nine minute video showcasing what the service looks like.

In the video, we are able to get a glimpse at what the user interface looks like and how it interacts with the Playstation 4 home screen on its own.  We also see how the renting system works, the games menu, and see a connection test performed.  Also as a little added bonus, we catch a glimpse of Sniper Ghost Warrior 2.

The purpose of Playstation Now is to have users be able to rely on constant content should they so choose, essentially, Netflix for video games.  Unfortunately, as witnessed in the video, the lag time for the service appears to be incredibly high.  Despite passing the connection test, and showing downstream speeds of 100 mbps, the user experiences issues.  Other users have complained about similar issues plaguing the service as well, so this doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident, and something that Playstation must look into.

Since Playstation Now is just in its very initial beta phase, it is to be expected that things aren’t completely ironed out.  The Playstation 3 version of the service saw load times nearly cut in half as Sony evolved the service and reworked the technology.  At this point, Playstation Now is still only in a private beta, to those who have been selected.  Sony did announce that this summer, the beta will turn into an “open beta” for all users.

While Playstation Now will have hiccups for a couple of weeks yet, how do you feel about the service and what are your initial impressions?
