Five-star cornerback Tarvarus McFadden (Fort Lauderdale, Fla American Heritage) released his top nine schools via his personal Twitter account his evening and the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles occupy the top spot for the shutdown corner.
Coming in behind the Seminoles are the fast-charging LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Central Florida Knights, Clemson Tigers and the USC Trojans.
The 6-3, 188-pound McFadden is the No. 33 ranked recruit overall, No. 5 cornerback and the No. 8 recruit in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
It should come as little surprise to see the in-state Seminoles at the top of the list for McFadden considering the defensive system they play in Tallahassee that puts a number of defensive backs on the field and their reputation for developing college players into NFL draft picks.
The very same can be said for LSU who is the biggest challenger to Jimbo Fisher and Florida State at pulling the tall corner out of the Sunshine State.
With the reputation as “DBU” (defensive back university) and their penchant for developing Thorpe Award winners and high draft picks, this should be quite the showdown between the two schools at the top of the list and if any of the schools outside the top two can make a serious run.
