The Maryland Terrapins may have left the ACC for the Big 10, but the Terrapins are hoping to recruit the south better than ever.
On Friday, the Terrapins proved they can still be a power in the south when they earned a commitment from 3-star running back Deltron Sands. The 5’8, 175-pounder attends St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. St. Thomas Aquinas is perhaps the best high school football program in the country. The school already has stars like Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive lineman Geno Atkins and this year, there were several more players drafted, including former Florida State Seminoles’ defensive back Lamarcus Joyner, who was selected by the St. Louis Rams and former Wisconsin Badgers’ running back James White, who will now be suiting up for the New England Patriots.
Clearly making any in-roads with the school could be huge.
Sands is the ranked as the country’s 102nd-best running back prospect, the 157th-best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 1,143rd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Sands also had offers from the Cincinnati Bearcats, Syracuse Orange, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Western Michigan Broncos, among others.
I commit to the University of Maryland #TerpsNation
