One of the highest-ranked safeties released his top 10 as four-star prospect Jamal Peters (Bassfield, Miss. Bassfield) revealed the in-state Mississippi State Bulldogs are currently his leader with the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles in the No. 2 spot.

Schools three-seven are all form the SEC with the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels and Texas A&M Aggies trying to bridge the gap between the local Bulldogs and reigning champions.

The Louisville Cardinals, Clemson Tigers and Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles round out Peters’ top 10 he released via his personal Twitter account.

Peters is the No. 47 player overall, No. 3 safety and the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Mississippi, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-3, 200-pound safety had 72 tackles, six sacks and one interception en route to earning All-State honors after helping guide Bassfield to a state title as a junior.

This would be a significant addition to Dan Mullen’s class as Mississippi State currently owns the No. 10 recruiting class according to 247Sports and keeping the top prospect in the Magnolia State will be a big priority.

Mississippi State already has commitments from seven of the top 20 prospects in the state and eight of the top 25, so the potential addition of Peters, who did mention that his top 10 is fluid and subject to change, but this is a great spot to be in heading into the summer evaluation period.
