Brian Roberts of the New York Yankees is being considered day to day after a knee x-ray came back negative.
The injury occurred while at bat. Roberts fouled a ball off of his right knee cap, immediately hitting the ground in excruciating pain.
Bryan Hoch covers the Yankees for MLB.com and tweeted the news late Friday night:

Despite no structural damage being show, Roberts gave up his spot in Friday’s game due to the discomfort.
“I told them in the middle of the game I didn’t want to be a detriment,” he said. “You know, if you think someone else can move around better, then feel free. I told them I could finish.”
If unable to play in Saturday’s game against the Chicago White Sox, it is being rumored that either Kelly Johnson or Brendan Ryan will get the start.
Roberts is currently in his first season with the Yankees. He is .277 hitter with 93 home runs and 530 RBI over 14 years in the league.
