The Diaz brothers are two of the most polarizing figures in MMA. Both Nick and Nate are loud-mouthed, care-free bad boys who often back up their words with their actions. While neither fighter has fought in the Octagon in the last 6 months, they still find themselves among MMA rumor mills and talked about even during UFC events, which was the case Saturday night following Nate’s tweet during the Jake Elleberger-Robbie Lawler fight.

Nate Diaz, the younger of the brothers, has not fought since knocking out Gray Maynard on November 30 of 2013. The knockout earned him the Knockout of the Night bonus, but Diaz has since to appear in the cage. Earlier in the month, Nate was removed from the lightweight rankings after being deemed inactive by the UFC. At the time, Diaz was ranked 6th in the division, but has since voiced his complaints with his contract and the promotion.
His brother Nick is equally as controversial, last fighting in March of last year in a title fight against George St. Pierre. GSP dominated Diaz, winning all five rounds on the three judges’ scorecards. Diaz left the ring that night and has also been MIA, stating that he’d only return for another title fight.
Both fighters are still under contract with the UFC, but neither are scheduled to fight in the near future.
