The Houston Astros have a plethora of young talent, and it may be hard to find a more polished prospect than Jon Singleton. With the Astros continuing to struggle so mightily, owning a 19-32 record, already eleven and a half games behind Oakland, many people are calling for the promotion of Singleton to the major leagues, who is really slugging right now.

More from Houston Astros

Marc Krauss, who is currently the Astros’ first baseman, has claimed he isn’t worried about the impending promotion of Singleton.

“You try not to think about it,” Krauss said, via the Houston Chronicle.

“Everybody knows he’s coming. He’s one of the top prospects in baseball, let alone just in our organization. He’s going to get his turn. I just try to go out and play as hard as I can and hopefully impress the team so that I can find a role when he does come up. If not, just play hard. There’s always other teams out there considering, if I’m playing well enough, I can help it out.”

Krauss had started the season badly, but has been turning it up in May. This month, Krauss is hitting .261 with a .370 on base percentage with a pair of homers.  Singleton on the other hand, has been very impressive in Triple-A-Oklahoma.

Singleton is hitting .269 with a .392 on base percentage and a .537 slugging percentage. He has already hit 12 home runs with 37 runs batted in, which, when paired with the impressive George Springer, could really improve the struggling Astros’ offense.

With Chris Carter still struggling in the designated hitter spot, there may just be room for both Krauss and Singleton. Regardless of the hot Singleton pushing for a promotion, Krauss will look to keep up his good form.
