Milwaukee Brewers: Ryan Braun a home run short of the cycle with a four hit day

Ryan Braun was back to his best tonight against the Miami Marlins for the Milwaukee Brewers. The talisman for the Brewers, who missed much of last year due to his involvement with the performance enhancing drugs scandal, has returned to the middle of the lineup again this season.

Vastly considered the hardest leg of the cycle, Braun hit an RBI triple to deep left centre field, to plate Jean Segura.

Braun also hit two singles and a double, but no homer. In the first inning he sent a ball over the head of Marlins right fielder, Mike Stanton for an easy, stand-up double.  Braun then hit a hard liner over the jumping Adeiny Hechavarria, into left field,  in the fourth inning to leave himself just the homer shy of the cycle.

While Braun wasn’t able to complete the cycle, he did add an infield single in the seventh. A hard hit ball bounced off the mound, and second baseman Derek Dietrich wasn’t able to throw to first in time. Braun spoke to MLB.com after the game.

Braun has been in superlative form, and his four-hit-effort further emphasises just how well he has been playing this year. Braun has seven home runs and 20 runs batted in. He has a great slashline of .308/.343/.554  and has even stolen three bags.
