San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is like the NBA’s version of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, they both like short answers when dealing with the media. The only difference is Popovich is more entertaining in his handling of the interviews, particularly the in-game interviews.

Whoever draws that duty seriously has to dread it, take TNT’s David Aldridge’s attempt to get some information from Popovich the other night.

“Pop, how do you think your starters responded to the change in line up from Oklahoma City,” Aldridge asks.

“Fine,” Popovich answers.

That might have been enough to discourage any other reporter, but Aldridge pressed on with another question.

“How was the pace consistently in the first quarter for you? Was it what you wanted?” Aldridge asks.

“Yes it was,” Popovich responds with.

That was a total of four words. In Tuesday night’s game, Aldridge once again pressed on with an interview and asked Popovich “how did you think your team play in the first quarter?”

Popovich just stared at Aldridge till they both laughed.

Then he actually gave a pretty long answer detailing the issues they faced in the first quarter, definitely exceeding the four words from their previous interviews.
