If there is any actor who has an incredibly busy schedule over the course of the next few years, that actor is Johnny Depp. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Depp’s schedule may have just gotten that much more crowded.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the Transcendence actor is in negotiations to play the legendary Harry Houdini in the upcoming film The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero.

Per The Hollywood Reporter:

“The story, which is said to be in the vein of Indiana Jones, recasts Houdini as not just a master escape artist but an investigator of the world of the occult.”

As I said, this is going to be a pretty interesting couple of years when it comes to Depp’s filming schedule.

Right now, he has three films that are in post-production; London Fields, which is set to debut later this year, Into the Woods, the fairytale epic where he plays the part of The Wolf, ad Mortdecai, where he plays the title character.

Right now, Depp is currently filming the crime drama Black Mass alongside Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch which tells the real life story of Billy Bulger, who is played by Cumberbatch, Whitey Bulger, who is played by Depp, and FBI Agent John Connelly, who is played in the film by Joel Edgerton.

Also on deck for Depp is the re-visiting of two of his blockbuster franchises; Through the Looking Glass, which is due out on May 27, 2016, is the follow up to 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installation in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, is due out sometime in 2016.

As I said, he has on pretty busy schedule ahead of him; however, if anyone is to be cast in a role as eccentric as the one he is in negotiations to take on, it is certainly Johnny Depp.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Noah Oppenheim is set to write the screenplay for the film which is based off of the novel of the same name from authors William Kalush and Larry Sloman.

Right now, there is no definitive release date for The Secret Life of Houdini; however, as you know, things can change in Hollywood in the blink of an eye.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments in the film’s production.
