For the second straight season, the Cleveland Cavaliers will own the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft and while many may think it’s the most enviable of positions to be in, that might be nothing but smoke and mirrors.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

We’ve heard multiple general managers state their lack of desire to pick first overall given the pressure, something the Cavaliers know all too well after questionably selecting Anthony Bennett with the top overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Now the Cavaliers find themselves on the clock again, this time with three players – Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker who could all hear their name called by commissioner Adam Silver first overall in the June 26th draft.

But who to pick? All three players bring with them immense talent but with that comes risk. Who’s the least risky? That depends on who you ask, though it very well could be Andrew Wiggins who according to ESPN’s Chad Ford (via Hoops Rumors) has been informed by the Cavaliers that he’s currently in the lead for the No. 1 selection.

“One source tells Ford for his latest Insider-only piece that Cleveland has already let Andrew Wiggins know that he’s in the lead to become the top pick, while another says the Cavs have narrowed their choices to Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid.”

As usual, it appears to be a large cluster at the top with different sources reporting different things while teams continue to give lip service about potential draftees.

Whatever the case, it appears as if one of the three will be playing for the Cavaliers next season and a surprise pick, like Bennett in 2013, looks to be off the table.
