Buffalo Bills sign first-round draft pick WR Sammy Watkins
By Jack Crosby
The Buffalo Bills made the first bold move of the 2014 NFL draft two weeks ago when they traded up to the no. 4 spot with the Cleveland Browns to select some offensive help with the pick of the best wide receiver in the draft, Clemson’s Sammy Watkins. On Wednesday, they officially made him a member of the team as they signed him to his first NFL contract.

While there were debates about the other positions, coming into the draft this year there was no doubt that Watkins was the best wideout in the group.
Watkins began to take the college footbal world by storm as a true freshman for head coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers in 2011 when he caought 82 balls for 1,219 yards and 12 touchdowns in helping lead the team to an ACC title.
2012 was not so kind to Watkins as he was suspended to begin the year and suffered through injuries for the rest of the season. However, in 2013 Watkins returned to his dominant form where he caught 101 balls for 1,464 yards another 12 scores.
Now Watkins joins the team that he says he grew up rooting for and will be critical to the offensive success of this young team going forward. Along with two draft picks from last season, QB EJ Manuel and WR Robert Woods, the former Clemson star will contribute to making this Bills passing game one of the more dangerous in the league.
