Marcell Dareus trying to put the past behind him
By Jack Maloney
Marcell Dareus has been a pretty solid player up front for the Buffalo Bills through his first few years. Just last year he made his first Pro Bowl after registering 7.5 sacks and 71 combined tackles.

But he’s also had his fair share of legal troubles that have hung over his head. But now he’s trying to put all of that behind them. In response to the felony drug charges he’s facing, he had the following to say.
"“It’s not what you guys think,” Dareus said Wednesday at Bills camp. “The media put things out there the wrong way.”“You [reporters] put things out there,” Dareus said. “I’m not really going to say [what is inaccurate]. I didn’t really pay that much attention to it. I got a lot of text messages and things.”“It’s behind me. I’m not a trouble guy,” Dareus said. “I don’t cause any problems nowhere. I’m not a bad guy. I don’t do anything. I just have fun and be myself. Things happen, things happen.”"
As for how what the management told him about his legal issues, Dareus said this:
“They really put a lot of emphasis on [maturity].” They believe in me. They know that I’m not a trouble guy. They know I’m not the type of person that’s trying to look for any trouble. I’m not trying to do anything. Things happen and we’re moving forward and they know I’m gonna grow into the guy they want me to be.”
Only time will tell how much time, if any, Dareus ends up missing because of this problem, but the Bills are surely hoping its less rather than more, as Dareus is a key part of their defensive line.
