Not only did they extend the contracts of head football coach Rich Rodriguez and vice President and Director of Athletics Greg Byrne on Wednesday, but according to Doug Haller of AZCentral Sports, they also extended the contract of head basketball coach Sean Miller.

"Miller’s current deal expires April 30, 2018. Under terms of the new agreement, the basketball coach’s annual base salary would increase $100,000 to $1.6 million on June 1, 2018……If Miller is still employed as UA basketball coach in eight years, he would receive a distribution of 175,000 units or may opt to have the units sold and receive the cash derived from the sale. If Miller is terminated without cause before the end of the eight-year period, he would receive a pro-rated share of the unit value through the first four years. If Miller decides to leave UA or is terminated with cause at any time over the eight years, he would not receive the units. They would go to the athletic director to be used at his or her discretion in consultation with the donor."

Miller has done an excellent job since taking over at Arizona. He took over the program after spending five years as head coach of the Xavier Muskateers. He went 120-47 in the regular season and 55-22 in the conference with four NCAA Tournament appearances. After a 16-15 season in his first year with the Wildcats, Miller went 30-8 in year two and led the team to the Elite Eight. He again reached the Elite Eight in 2014 after a 33-5 season. He has a record of 129-48, including a 63-27 Pac-12 record in five seasons with the Wildcats.
