The Denver Broncos almost won the Super Bowl last year had it not been for that rather embarrassing blowout in the actual game itself against the Seattle Seahawks. One of the consistent problems an otherwise spotless offense had in 2013 was ball security and we saw that emphasized on the first drive of the Super Bowl by the Broncos in which a bad snap led to a Peyton manning fumble which led to two easy and quick points for the Seahawks.

But the examples of poor ball security were riddled all throughout the season for the Broncos as we saw time after time someone give the ball up in a big spot. Whether it was Montee Ball fumbling against the Colts at the goal line or Wes Welker getting bumped and muffing a punt against the Patriots — both plays that cost the Broncos victories. But this offseason is being spent with an emphasis on making sure those needless and careless fumbles don’t happen again.

Per the Denver Post:

"“We’re making an emphasis from Day One on ball security,” Broncos coach John Fox said. “We started with two of our better players in Demaryius and Peyton. What better guys to start with?”"

Denver needs to make sure they’re a finely tuned machine yet again in 2014 as the pressure will be on them more than it ever has been before. They got blown away in the Super Bowl and the fact of the matter is there is absolutely zero margin for error in the AFC for the Broncos.

Not only are the Patriots hot on their tail, but the Broncos failing to get back to the Super Bowl will be deemed a failure as this team has gone all in and costly fumbles mucking up their season just cannot happen.
