Both the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are facing extremely important offseasons.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers recently went though a horrible season, finishing 27-55.  That’s why they hold the sixth-overall pick. Armed with salary cap space despite the massive contract of guard Kobe Bryant, the Lakers must decide  if they are going to chase after free agents this year or perhaps suffer through another poor season, developing young talent. They also must make a decision on free agent big man Pau Gasol.

The Suns missed the postseason, but had a 48-34 record. They now must find a way to improve (and that could mean signing Gasol away from the Lakers). They also must re-sign guard Eric Bledsoe, who will be a restricted free agent. The Suns hold the 14th, 18th and 27th-overall picks in the draft.

According to Chris Haynes of Comcast Sports Northwest, both the Lakers and Suns will be working out former Michigan State Spartans’ guard Gary Harris.

"The lottery-projected shooting guard out of Michigan State Gary Harris is scheduled to work out for the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers during the first week of June, sources informed CSNNW.com."

Harris has always looked like a first round pick and a potential lottery pick, but his recent performances in workouts have led to Harris being called a “lottery lock.”

Harris is ranked as Draft Express’ 13th-best overall prospect and currently projects him to go 14th-overall to the Suns. Harris averaged 16.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game last season while shooting 42.9% from the field, 35.2% from beyond the arc and 81.0% from the free throw line.
