The Toronto Raptors made an unlikely impact on the NBA since their inception into the league in 1995. The presence of the team for the city of Toronto created a new center for basketball in an area dominated by hockey. The result of the movement has allowed for an influx of talent from the area, with several Toronto natives entering the league in recent seasons. The most notable of them all would be future lottery selection, Andrew Wiggins, among others such as last year’s first overall pick in Anthony Bennett.

More from NBA Draft

The Raptors have now finished an unlikely season, where they found themselves in the playoffs for the first time in six seasons. The team will be selecting 20th in the upcoming draft, and Toronto is eyeing a few other notable Toronto natives that may be available in the draft like Nik Stauskas of Michigan and Tyler Ennis of Syracuse. The two players still are unlikely to last until the Raptors selection, and although the team is considering moving up for one of the two, a deal looks unlikely and the team continues to look at other options, according to Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun.

Toronto’s talent pool is quite an interesting development over the past five years, and the Raptors will likely get another chance at a local star in the coming years. The team will still keep a close eye on the two players, especially Tyler Ennis, who could be a possible replacement for Kyle Lowry, who is an unrestricted free agent this summer.
