Following a victory over the rival Alabama Crimson Tide, an SEC Championship victory over the Missouri Tigers and a heat-breaking loss to the Florida State Seminoles in the final seconds of the National Championship Game, the Auburn Tigers are rolling on the recruiting trail.

Over the weekend, the Tigers added their 15th commitment in the class of 2015 when 3-star fullback Chandler Cox gave his pledge to head coach Gus Malzahn and the Tigers.

“I just spoke to [Auburn coach Gus Malzahn],” Cox told Keith Niebuhr of 24/7 Sports. “He was so excited. He said this was probably one of the best days of him being at Auburn.”

It was quite the pull because the Tigers had to go down to Florida to scoop him up. The 6’1, 225-pound Cox is from Apopka, Florida and attends Apopka High School. Cox is ranked as the country’s third-best fullback prospect, the 181st-best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 1,257th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Cox chose the Tigers over an impressive list of offers, including the Tide, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners and Tennessee Volunteers, among others.

The commitment was not the least bit surprising. Cox took an unofficial visit to visit Auburn’s campus on April 19. He returned less than a month later on May 10 and named the Tigers his leader, meaning his commitment was only a matter of time.

The Tigers now have the fourth-ranked recruiting class in the country.
