While the Minnesota Timberwolves continue to say all the right things and suggest that Kevin Love will be with them for the long term, that doesn’t appear to be the same sentiment coming from Love’s group.

More from Boston Celtics

The power forward appears to want out of Minnesota and doesn’t mind where he plays assuming the franchise either has a winning tradition or they’re moving in such a direction, this according to CSNNE.com.

That list reportedly includes the Boston Celtics, who despite a down season have a storied history and would fit the requirements of the All-Star talent.

"A source close to Love told Welsh that the three-time All-star, “wants to play for an organization that’s going to be a winning organization; not necessarily I have to go to a championship team now, but a team that’s going to be built to move in that direction. Maybe it’ll take a couple years. That’s OK. But he needs a change from Minnesota.”"

So what about the rumors that West would prefer to stay in the West, preferably closer to California where he grew up and where his girlfriend resides? Well, sure, he’d like that but he knows it’s not a perfect world.

"“He (Love) is not one of those guys that’s saying, “I want to go to Miami. I want to go to L.A.,” the hype cities,” Welsh said. “Now would he prefer L.A.? His girlfriend lives there. She’s an actress. He went to college there (at UCLA). He was born there.” Welsh added, “but he’s a professional. He wants to go where there’s the best opportunity for him which would be in a winning organization and he respects the history of the Celtics.”"

The Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors have all expressed interest in bringing Love aboard so it’s clear, if the Wolves do trade their franchise talent, there will be plenty of trade suitors for them to pick from.

Love was of course in Boston this weekend ‘checking things out‘.
