There’s just something about knowing you’ve hit a baseball right on the sweet spot of the bat and that ball is going for a 400-foot cruise over the outfield fence. It’s even more special when that home run clinches a state title.

More from MLB

Clinching the state title is exactly what Hunt Smith did last week to propel his team to the Georgia state title with his grand slam home run. You can see the massive bat flip courtesy of YouTube user KanklesClan below.

According to WAMZ-13:

"“Hunt Smith smashed a grand slam to propel the Houston County boys to an 8-6 win over Whitewater in the championship game of the GHSA 5A baseball series at Whitewater Tuesday afternoon in Fayette County.Smith’s blast followed an intentional walked and helped the Bears overcome an early 3-0 deficit. The grand slam put HoCo up 7-4.Josh Profit added an insurance run with a home run in the 6th inning to give Houston County an 8-6 lead.”"

Now I know what you’re thinking.

Well, at least what half of you may be thinking. Half of you are thinking this is an awesome moment for a high school baseball player to show his emotions after a massive grand slam to put his team in position to win a state championship. Further, there was a batter intentionally walked before Smith stepped in the batter’s box, so there is that added angle of being disrespected, so he should be able to strut his stuff and celebrate however he chooses.

The other half of you are thinking this is just another example of a selfish, look-at-me athlete who showed up his opponent with a home run. They criticize professional ball players for their own bat flips or staring at the ball from the batter’s box, which usually ends up with the next batter taking a fastball to the ribs or the batter taking one the next time up.

Did Hunt Smith follow the example from the player in MLB who like to taunt the pitcher or show off after a big hit or is this just a case of a teenager being in the moment and getting a free pass for the huge flip of the bat?
