Gauthier is the No. 1,122 ranked player overall, the No. 118 offensive tackle and the No. 153 player in the state of Florida according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Hurricanes were the biggest offer on the table for the 6-5, 305-pound lineman with Arizona, Purdue, Marshall, Florida International, Toledo and Central Florida his other offers. He was offered by the Hurricanes on Feb. 27th.
Gauthier committed after spending time on the Miami campus over the weekend for the Al Golden football camp and considering Gauthier wanted to play his college football in his home state of Florida and his fondness for the campus, coaching staff and the program, it made perfect sense for Gauthier to shut his recruitment down and get ready for his senior season.
Of the 12 commitments in Miami’s 2015 class, 10 are from the Sunshine State and Gauthier is Miami’s fourth verbal commitment along the offensive line with Leeward Brown, Kevin Feder, and Hayden Mahoney. Gauthier really could project at any five positions on the offensive line because of his size and could be plugged in at center or guard if the team needs him to move off his high school position.
With the commitment from Gauthier, Miami moved up three spots to No. 10 on the 247Sports team class rankings and have the No. 3 ranked class in the ACC, trailing Clemson and Florida State who boast the No. 2 and No. 7 classes, respectively.
