Australian point guard Dante Exum is probably the most intriguing prospect in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Exum is obviously a very talented prospect with fantastic size (He measured in at 6’6 and 196 lbs. with a wingspan of 6’9.5 at the NBA’s Scouting Combine), but many have questioned his shooting ability and his competition in Australia.
There are also several teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, that could use Exum as a shooting guard. However, Nate Duncan of Basketball Insiders argues that Exum can definitely be a pure point guard.
"I’m going to write a piece on Exum at some point, but I spent a few hours watching what little tape is available on him last weekend. I think he is magic with the ball in his hands, and can be a pure point guard because he has a lot of vision on his drive and dishes. I also think his shot is going to come around and he’ll be a quality shooter sooner than people think. However, he does absolutely nothing without the ball in his hands. Doesn’t rebound, doesn’t run the floor, doesn’t block shots (he was by far the most athletic guy on the floor in most of his U-19 games and Australian HS games I watched) and doesn’t really defend. He spends all his time w/out the ball walking around basically. On rare times when he does get into a stance though he can really move his feet.I like him a lot, but the effort signs are worrisome, because a guy with his athleticism should dominate every facet of the game the way future NBA guys do if they’re playing in a US high school. It could be dismissed as just not being coached or challenged, and he seems like a good kid. But it could also mean he doesn’t have the killer instinct that you’d like to see."
Most draft projections have Exum falling the Orlando Magic with the fourth-overall pick where he would play with his friend, the second overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, guard Victor Oladipo.
