Oakland Raiders cornerback D.J. Hayden has been seen this week walking around in a boot during the Raiders OTA sessions. Hayden suffered a sprained ankle last week and the boot is an attempt to prevent further injury from occurring.

Raiders head coach Dennis Allen was asked about the ankle injury and simply replied, “I don’t expect it to be anything serious.”

Hayden is no stranger to injury over the past couple of years. Hayden was the Raiders top pick of the 2013 draft, however at the time he was still healing from a near-fatal heart injury which occurred in Houston. The injury almost ended his career, however he resiliently recovered from that and proceeded to be drafted to the Raiders.

Hayden made a statement just prior to the ankle injury that his health is in excellent condition.

"“I’m great, I’m feeling a whole lot better. I’ve been lifting, working out and I actually got a full off-season in so I’m ready. I’m ready for the season to start. (Last year), in the OTAs, because seeing all my teammates out there working out and I’m hooked up to IVs, it might mess up anybody’s head a little bit, but I’m way over that now.”"

Last year Hayden also missed two games due to a groin injury and ended up playing a total of 8 games. Throughout those eight games, Haden combined for 25 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception.

Thankfully the ankle injury is nothing too serious this time around and Hayden will more than likely be fully recovered going into the start of the season.
