Prepaid wireless carrier Cricket Wireless announced on Wednesday that it will be offering the LG Optimus L70 to customers starting on Friday, June 6. The phone, which is normally priced at $99.99 without a contract, will be sold for just $49.99 at launch for a very limited time, after consumers send in a mail-in rebate.
So, you have to still spend $99.99 on the phone at purchase, but you will receive $50 back via a prepaid card.
The LG Optimus L70 is a mid-range handset that runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Its features include those found on most LG phones such as Qslide, which allows multi-tasking; and KnockCode, which lets users unlock their phones using a customizable tapping code rather than entering in numbers on the keypad.
The phone features a 4.5-inch IPS display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a removable 2,100mAh battery that has a talk time of up to 15 hours. In terms of its camera, the L70 has a 5-megapixel shooter on the back as well as a front-facing VGA camera. It comes with 4GB of internal memory, and allows up to 32GB of external storage. It also includes 1GB of RAM.
Mike’s Musings: This is a simple phone that, for the price, you can’t go wrong with. If you don’t like the idea of long-term contracts with wireless carriers, then this might be the deal for you.
