The Last of Us gets release date

The PlayStation 3 ended its reign as Sony’s premier console by going out on top.  Arguably no game on the PlayStation 3 was more well done than The Last of Us.  Sony wants to make sure that those who didn’t get the experience prior to upgrading for the next generation PlayStation 4, get their shot.

As has been rumored for quite some time, Naughty Dog, makers of The Last of Us as well as the Uncharted series, have a release date for their remastered version of The Last of Us on PlayStation 4.  The unfortunate thing for gamers, we don’t yet get to know what it is.

Although Naughty Dog didn’t release the exact date, we do have insight into what day it won’t be.  Naughty Dog has stuck to their guns saying the game would release sometime this summer.  With that in mind, many retailers are still suggesting that June 20th looks like a potential release date.

Though Naughty Dog is releasing The Last of Us as a remastered version, the company has confirmed this isn’t just another $60 worth of polish.  The game is set to run in 1080p with 60fps.  Increased character models, graphics, and lighting should even further set the game apart on the PlayStation 4.

Ted’s Takes:  With E3 set to kick off in a few days, and Sony’s press conference set for Monday June 9th at 6pm PST, it seems to reason that The Last of Us getting a revealed release date may be a nice topping to end of a solid show.  Regardless of when Sony and Naughty Dog decide to make the game available for purchase, the PlayStation 4 version should sell equally well.  I have yet to play The Last of Us as I upgrade prior to its release, but can’t wait to get my hands on the next-gen version of the game.
