It’s become clearer and clearer lately that the Minnesota Timberwolves will ultimately trade star Kevin Love. They’ve entered into discussions with a number of teams that would be interested, which lately seems to be every team in the league, and it’s almost become imminent at this point.

According to a report from Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday, though, a deal involving Love will not happen until the team eventually hires their next head coach.

This actually makes sense, especially since you’d want to have a discussion with the new head coach, whomever it may be, about the direction of the team without Love going forward. Trading away the best player on the team and then handing said team over to a new coach isn’t exactly a polite business practice.

As for trade destinations for Love whenever the team hires a new head man, again, that’s all over the place at this point.

Most recently, this past weekend, Love took himself a trip to the Boston area, sparking more talk that a move to the Celtics could be on the horizon, especially since it’s more likely that he wants to play for a bigger market team when he is shipped.

No matter what they plan to do in the end, it’s at least nice to see the Timberwolves have a solid plan in place to go through with this potential, rather than make a hot shot move they might regret.
