Wednesday afternoon the San Francisco 49ers made quarterback Colin Kaepernick a very rich young man as they signed their signal-caller to one of the most lucrative contracts in the history of the league, worth more than $110 million. That signing opened the door for other young, successful quarterbacks to begin their own negotiations, one of them being former no. 1 overall pick, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck.

Luck, viewed as maybe the best of the entire young crop of quarterbacks currently in the league, is expected to get a hefty deal of his own within the next year or two before his rookie deal expires, and Kaepernick’s deal on Wednesday provided a good starting point for the negotiation process.

Does Luck agree?

Well, when you ask him personally, he really doesn’t pay much attention to it.

“(I pay) probably as much attention as any other football fan pays to it,” Luck said of the contract news via the Indianapolis Star. “I don’t think I’m necessarily in the spot, personally, to start thinking about that. My agent maybe pays a lot more attention to it than I do.”

Luck did, however, go on to congratulate his peer on striking it rich with the Niners.

“For me, it’s ‘congratulations.’ I actually got to meet Kap.”

In regards to the future, some would think that Luck has the better upside of the two, warranting him getting even more money than Kaepernick. According to Adam Schefter on Wednesday as well, that seems to be where he’s headed.
