The 2014 World Cup in Brazil is roughly a week away, and the anticipation for the tournament is building up. In Group B we have an interesting pairing of Spain and Netherlands, the two teams that squared off in the 2010 World Cup finals.
If Spain is the favorite in the group to advance, it likely comes down to the Netherlands and Chile for the second spot. Chile and Netherlands are ranked 14th and 15th in the FIFA World Rankings respectively.
The Netherlands are dealing with some injury problems that could hinder how they perform in the group, and Chile benefits from the World Cup being held on their native continent. It isn’t necessarily a home-field advantage for Chile, but they’re more acclimated to the time difference.
Chile also has a strong player in Arturo Vidal, arguably the best player in the Italian league Serie A. Chile is becoming a trendy and sexy pick for those looking to predict which teams advance out of the group.
