World Cup 2014: Spain final team rosters and starting XI

Spain waited till just before the deadline to announce their final 23-man roster. Part of the wait was to determine the health of Diego Costa and whether he’d be available or not for the defending World Cup champions. Costa suffered a grade one hamstring tear and only played 9 minutes in the Champions League final in late May as a result.

Nevertheless they decided to keep him on the roster for the tournament.

Final 23-man roster:

GOALKEEPERS: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Pepe Reina (Napoli), David de Gea (Manchester United)

DEFENDERS: Juanfran Torres (Atletico Madrid), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Jordi Alba (Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Raul Albiol (Napoli), Javi Martinez (Bayern Munich)
