There’s nothing like an NFL rookie adapting to his surroundings quickly, and that’s what New York Jets first round draft pick Calvin Pryor has done, much to the delight of his coach.

More from New York Jets

In an interview with SportsNet New York’s Daily News Live this week, Pryor showed that he’s just one of the guys when it comes to feelings about the Jets’ biggest rivals, particularly New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady.

“We don’t like Tom at all,” Pryor said. “When I first came here, that was one of the first things I heard about: We hate the Patriots and we hate the Giants. So we hate those guys and I look forward to playing them this season.”

So Rex Ryan has someone playing in the secondary that likes to talk the smack. Big shock, right?

And the Jets head coach apparently has no plans of muzzling his rookie safety. Another big shock.

“He said just be yourself and go talk trash and try to get them off their game,” Pryor said. “He’s going to let you talk trash at the opponents. He wants to win by any means necessary.”

It’s not a strategy that has been hugely successful with the Jets when it comes to playing either the Giants or the Patriots, but Rexie knows what he’s doing, we’re sure.

Well, reasonably sure.

“I am who I am. I’m going to talk trash, I’m going to be myself, and people who don’t like me just going to have to get used to it,” Pryor stated.

Anyone care to lay odds that this is not the last we hear of it?
