So it’s the first week of June, and we’re months away from any NFL preseason games, let alone regular season action. But people love football more than about anything in this country, and so of course they still want to talk about it.

More from Cleveland Browns

But here’s the thing: there’s nothing to talk about. We’re way past the draft and way away from anything meaningful happening, so people have to drum up arguments. Because, I mean, who wants to talk about optional team activities or mini-camps. No one. That’s who.

So of course the quarterback debate has heated up again because that will always be a raging debate until the end of time or football stops existing.

A lot of the talk has focused on New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, because he is getting older. Some seem to think that Brady is no longer one of the league’s best. Well Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine is not in that camp. In fact, he still thinks Brady is one of the two best quarterbacks in the league.

From Eye on Football:

"“It’s beyond ridiculous,” Pettine told MMQB.com when asked about the subject of Brady not being a top-five quarterback.“Top five? I mean, to me, it’s one and two (Brady andPeyton Manning) and then there’s a gap and then it’s probably (Drew) Brees and (Aaron) Rodgers would be three and four, however you want to order them,” Pettine said. “Until those two (Brady and Manning) retire, they’ll be one and two and then there will be a gap.”"

There’s no doubt Brady isn’t as good as he was five or six years ago, but it’s hard to argue with Pettine’s point. I mean Brady still lead a shorthanded Patriots team to an AFC championship game last year.
