Game of Thrones is so applicable to real life, isn’t it? These NBA Finals draw a great similarity to last Sunday’s fight to the death between the prince from Dorne Oberyn Martell, and Westeros’ biggest man and mountain, Gregor Clegane. Here are five reasons why the NBA Finals matchup pair perfectly with last weeks face-off. SPOILER ALERT!

The Heat are overconfident like the Viper

They won’t reveal it in front of everyone, but they beat the Spurs last year. They’re confident they can win again, too much so. After all, the Spurs are old and only getting older. The Heat are mature, not old. And they’ve got a little too much swagger.

They Heat have showmanship like the Viper

They look good, there’s no denying that. The Viper had some pretty sweet moves and a panache to his fighting style. The Heat are equally fun to watch. But panache doesn’t win the Finals. Panache doesn’t win death matches.

The Spurs couldn’t care less like the Mountain

They know the Heat won last year and they couldn’t care less. Like the prince from Dorne, the Heat have built a reputation for excellence. Everyone fears them. But San Antonio knows they were a Ray Allen three-pointer away last year. They were a swipe of the legs away. This year, they’ll make that swipe.

It will start evenly matched, but won’t end that way

As mentioned, all it takes is a swipe of the legs — or maybe a broken A/C — to change the momentum of this series in a heartbeat. The overconfident Heat will find a way to get the lead in this series, but Tony Parker and Tim Duncan aren’t to simply be counted down and out. The Spurs will figure out a way to pick apart Miami without them even knowing. And all of a sudden, like the carpet was pulled from under them, one of these two teams will have been the recipient of an eye-popping NBA Finals conclusion.
