Spain is playing El Salvador in a World Cup tune-up game and international friendly. The good news for Spain is that Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, who is reportedly head to Chelsea as soon as the transfer window opens, will be available and plaing in the game.
Costa played just nine minutes for Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on May 24.
“Diego Costa will play. If we thought it was a risk to include him, then we wouldn’t,” Spain’s coach, Vicente Del Bosque, said on Friday, via The Guardian. “He will play tomorrow because he has been training well, is in good form and we want to try him out.”
El Salvador is eager to make a statement against Spain, a team they’ve seen on television a lot.
“Our players are young and they are used to seeing the Spanish players on TV in the Champions League and the World Cup,” El Salvador coach Albert Roca said, via the Washington Post, “but they want to show the world they are talented.”
